If You Are Paying AT&T For Tethering Service On Your iPhone, You Will Be Upset After Reading This !!!

Apple pulled the $15 iTether app from their iTunes store. Did AT&T bully Apple to do so?
Updated: 12/30/2011 @ 7:15 AM EST
Cupertino, Calif. – December 29, 2011- Apple pulled iTether App because it burdens a carrier’s network. Are they talking about AT&T? If Apple is not looking out for their iPhone customers nor application developers who is? What Apple seems to be doing here is simply shoving a big AT&T stick up your you-know-what by not allowing iPhone users to download iTether ($15) as of 12 PM EST on December 29, 2011. The app, iTether, which was developed by tether.com allows iPhone users to have full Internet access on their laptop anywhere using their iPhone’s data plan without WiFi hotspots or extra data plans.
Here is the comment from Tether.com’s blog
We strongly disagree that it burdens a carrier’s network, as from our own data history on more than 500,000 users we know the average user consumes less than 200 MBs of data per month on Tether. In comparison, one TV show streamed from Netflix, an approved Apple App, could easily be in the 300-400 MBs range. Sure, there are some users that will consume way more than the average however that’s the case with any of these types of products.
Our team is very disappointed in Apple’s decision; as we strongly believe we help carriers better monetize their data stream by pushing customers into new data tiers further increasing their bottom-line. It is very anti-competitive to not allow any Tethering application to enter into this space to innovate. Our team has created a lot of innovative solutions for the BlackBerry product, which we were hoping to port over to the iPhone like end-to-end encryption, compression, website filtering and port filtering.
According to Apple, users who purchase iTether before it was pulled will continue to be able to use the product.
Who got screwed here? Just follow the money and here is what happens if the iPhone app is downloaded and used by an AT&T iPhone customer.
The developer makes $15 minus fees from Apple for each app sold.
AT&T however will lost $30 each month for each customer using the app.
Consumers pay $15 for iTether and have the ability to stick that $30 each month up AT&T’s you-know-where. Priceless!!
What can we, the little people do? Post and share this article on your wall. Tweet it. Retweet it. Send an email and ask Apple to do right thing.
To the iTether developer; repackage the app and call it FUATT and I will pay $30 for it.
Any suggestions? Use #FUATTTethering hash tag when you tweet or retweet.

News: Idealpad.com is now green.

At IdealPad we run our website in a very “Green” hosting environment and therefore, in turn, we are running a Green website!
Our web hosting company 1&1 has partnered with the Bonneville Environmental Foundation (BEF) to offset 100% of the energy usage of their data center in Lenexa, Kansas by purchasing Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs). The majority of the RECs will be sourced from the Bowersock Mills and Power Company’s hydroelectric facility in Lawrence, Kansas. This hydroelectric facility is certified low impact by the Low Impact Hydro Institute (LIHI).
1&1’s renewable energy purchase for the facility is enough clean energy to power at least 300 U.S. homes for one year!
1&1 and BEF work in tandem with Green-e, the nation’s leading voluntary certification program for renewable energy, to power our data center with clean, renewable energy. Green-e certifies renewable energy that meets environmental and consumer protection standards that it developed in conjunction with leading environmental, energy and policy organizations. More >
Project : Idealpad Interactive

Project : Ideal Pad Interactive site ( In production )
Location : San Jose, California
I created this site to showcase my flash and digital photo manipulation skills. Each object was taken one by one with the same light source then carefully masked and cleaned up. I created the background by using a photograph of a cement floor and then adding stains to create realism and texture.
The final process involved stacking each object on top of each other using layers in Photoshop. The result is what you see above.

Password proteted a section of your WP with selected credential.
Oct 9th
Problem: A client wanted to created a password protected section of WordPress site and only allow selected group of user(s) to have access to the site.
The solution for this problem is very powerful and flexible if you want to give a certain group of user to have only an access to a section of your site. It took me about 5 hours to look for the solution installing plug-in try it out tweaking it and then uninstalling it when it doesn’t do what I wanted to do. I found a plug-in that will do just that for you.
Solution: User Access Manager by Alexander Schneider
With the “User Access Manager”-plug-in you can manage the access to your posts, pages and files. You only create a user group, put registered users to this and set up the rights for this group. From now on the post/page is only accessible and writable for the specified group. This plug-in is useful if you need a member area or a private section at your blog or you want that other people can write at your blog but not everywhere. More >
